Old Courthouse and Jail, Crocus Hill
Blue timber shutters sit above the thick stone walls of Anguilla’s former courthouse and jail.

The story behind the place
On Crocus Hill, the Old Courthouse and Jail brings several chapters of Anguilla’s history together. The building served as an administrative centre as well as a court, post office and prison. Hurricane Alice destroyed its upper structure in 1955. The recent restoration pairs a reconstructed timber-clad upper floor with the surviving stone basement, making the contrast between light woodwork and heavy masonry part of its story.
