The story behind the place

Mantenga Reserve protects a wooded setting around Mantenga Falls, close to the cultural village in the Ezulwini Valley. Here the falling water provides a different way to notice the landscape: dark wet rock beside warmer, drier cliff faces, with trees finding footholds along the sides. The Eswatini Tourism Authority identifies Mantenga as a National Trust Commission property. The waterfall and the reconstructed village are distinct parts of the reserve’s natural and cultural story.
