House On Fire’s Sculpture Garden
Patterned pillars and playful stone forms turn an artists’ garden into a place to explore.

The story behind the place
House On Fire is an arts venue in the Malkerns Valley, founded in2000 to help develop the arts in Eswatini. Its surrounding gardens bring together different sculptural and architectural ideas. The venue credits local artisans, including soapstone sculptor Noah Mdluli, with contributions to this evolving setting. Look for the contrast between narrow patterned pillars, rounded stone forms and a tiered ornamental tower: this is contemporary creative work, rather than an ancient ruin.
