The story behind the place

La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná and Jesús de Tavarangue preserve remains of Jesuit missions in Paraguay. Their buildings record a programme of Christian conversion and associated social and economic organisation in the Río de la Plata basin. The architectural remains are evidence of that colonial history and its effects on local communities.
