The story behind the place
The Hoba Meteorite lies on the farm where it was identified in 1920. Its great mass has kept it in place, and the visitor setting was built around it. The flat, uneven top and rusty sides look different from the dramatic crater or blazing fireball often associated with meteorites. Hoba offers a quieter encounter with planetary science: a heavy piece of material from beyond Earth, now protected as a Namibian heritage site.
