Spitzkoppe is a striking granite landmark between Namibia’s coast and interior. Its steep central peak is connected visually with rounded shoulders, joints and piles of boulders below. Those contrasts reveal different ways that a single rocky mass has weathered. The summit’s silhouette is familiar, but the lower slabs are part of its character too. Looking at both avoids reducing a complex inselberg to a simple triangular mountain symbol.
