The story behind the place

The Baron Bliss Lighthouse looks toward the harbour associated with one of Belize’s best-known benefactors. Henry Edward Ernest Victor Bliss left a substantial bequest when he died in 1926. The tourism board describes the lighthouse as one of the monuments commemorating him near the waters where he stayed. Its slender white body and red details make a compact harbour landmark, connecting navigation with the city’s history of public benefaction.
