Henderson Island
A remote raised atoll shelters birds and plants found nowhere else.

The story behind the place
Henderson is a raised coral island in the Pitcairn group, with limestone cliffs, forest and breeding seabirds. Its isolation makes it valuable for studying island evolution. All four of its land-bird species are endemic. Archaeological evidence also records earlier Polynesian settlement, so remoteness should not be confused with an absence of human history.
