Cape Pembroke Lighthouse stands east of Stanley at the islands' easternmost point. Its exposed coastal setting makes the relationship between the beacon and the surrounding sea especially clear. Nearby, a memorial recalls the Atlantic Conveyor, a ship lost in the 1982 conflict, adding another strand of maritime memory to the place.
Look from the pointed windows up to the tower’s paired louvres and steep red roof. Christ Church Cathedral was consecrated in 1892 and remains a prominent building on Stanley’s waterfront. Grey local stone and red brick work together to make its details stand out.
Walk around the shape in your imagination: the monument has four rising branches rather than a single flat arch. The bones came from two blue whales, and the arch was erected in 1933. Today its unusual silhouette is one of Stanley’s best-known landmarks.
