The story behind the place

Black Point Tunnel links Grand Sable with Byrea Bay on Saint Vincent. The government’s account describes it as about 300 feet long and built around 1815 using enslaved labour to help move sugar exports. Its rough opening gives a close view of rock, roots and shadow. This scene shows one entrance, rather than the full underground route. Remembering the people forced to build it is as important as noticing the engineering.
