Nyungwe National Park
Mountain rainforest and peat bogs protect a varied set of habitats.

The story behind the place
Nyungwe combines intact forest with peat bogs, moorland, thickets and grassland. This mixture supports many plants and animals, including bird communities important to conservation. Its value lies partly in the variety of habitats held together across the landscape, offering a different view of Rwanda from its northern volcanic mountain slopes.
